    • Came to South Africa with Western Australian Bushmen, June 1900; returned to Australia 1901 and back to S.A. December 1901

      Was born at Cook Street Kingston March 10 1877.
      He also went to Western Australia at the behest of his Uncle Henry Whittall but he did not get along with either his Aunt Hattie (Charlotte) nor his uncle Harry.
      Harry finally had a bust-up with his aunt and uncle and left WA as amember of the WA's Bushmans' Contingent to the Boer War. He married in South Africa and after firstly being a member of General Smith Dorrian's staff he became private secretary to the General, later Field-Marshall Smuts.
      Harry returned to Australia at least twice to visit his mother and he died in Pretoria in 1946(3). Edith May Brown's birthday book, notes "Capt. Harry N. Venn. Spring Street, Melbourne
