- Solicitor Gray's Inn London
- John Campbell Cameron was admitted as a member of Gray's Inn 8 Feb 1808. His entry in the register of admissions reads:John Campbell Cameron, aged 21, second son of Hugh Cameron, late of Basinghall street, London, gent., deceased.
- He was never called to the Bar, but practised as an attorney (forerunner of a modern solicitor - attorneys could at that time join an Inn of Court, though later this was prohibited). As he never became a barrister, we have no further record of him in our archives, though I can tell you from some early law lists we have here that in 1826 he had offices at no.2 Verulam Buildings and that he stayed there until 1834, then moved, still within the Inn, to 1 Raymond Buildings where he remained until 1855.
